Our Policies
  • Hip and eye certifications: We do not believe that there is any scientific proof
that these tests are legitimate or that they work. We do not perform these
test on our dogs, but we do guarantee our pups against genetic defects for
    two years.
  • Payment: We expect full payment for your puppy or dog when it is shipped or
picked up. In most cases, we will ask for a deposit and will not hold your pick
for you without it. If you pay by personal check, we will not release a dog to
    you for 10 days.
  • We breed hunting dogs. If you are sold a dog or puppy and it pees and
poops in your house and eats your couch, don't call and want to bring the
dog back. Behavioral problems are usually caused in hunting breeds by
boredom. If your dog is destroying your house, take him out for a run. Your
    furniture will thank you.
  • Anyone who purchases an animal from Canyon Creek Kennels must sign a
purchase agreement. Please click here to view our contract in Microsoft
    Word format.
  • We do not test our dogs in any sanctioned field tests. Not that we don't
believe in them, but our dogs are given the rare chance to prove themselves
hunting wild birds in wild country. If you choose to field test your dog, that is
your prerogative. We will stand by you in that decision and would love to hear
    about it.
  • When you buy a dog from Canyon Creek Kennels, the dog is yours. We will
not limit the registration or name it for you like other breeders do. We believe
that if you paid for it, it is yours.
  • Stud fees: Before any dog is bred at Canyon Creek Kennels, you must sign
a stud contract. Click here to view it in Microsoft Word format.
  • A $100 deposit is required to hold your pick from any litter, regardless of
breed. This does not apply to stud fees.
  • Order of deposits determines order of picks. A deposit is not needed until
the litter is whelped unless you want to insure that you have first pick out of a
litter. If you call me with full interest in a pup, your name will go on the list.
Once the litter is whelped, I will call and confirm the pick order.
  • We do not confirm sales of any dogs by email alone. If you want to buy a dog
from us, you have to call us. Emails are fine, but we would like to talk to you
in person, if possible, but if not at least on the phone before sealing the deal
    on a dog or puppy.
  • Do not call me with the intent to dicker to get a lower price on a dog. If you
want a free dog, go to the humane society. I breed quality hunting dogs and
do not like to be insulted. Any dog I sell is worth more than what I sell it for.
Trades are more than welcome, but don't call me wanting me to give you a
deal on a dog. I do sometimes cut deals on multiple dogs sold to one owner,
but that is at my discretion.

Please understand that these policies reflect how I personally feel. I don't want
dogs to go to people who are not going to take care of them or not hunt them. As I
said before, I breed quality bird dogs. I understand that everyone has to work, so
keeping a dog in a kennel is not what I'm talking about. I want these dogs to have
full opportunity to reach their potential as hunting and companion dogs. It will not
hurt my feelings to hear that you keep your dog outside and do not let it in the
house; I do the same. A dog of any breed is a 10+ year commitment, and yes,
money is an issue when buying a dog. So I want you to have the best quality your
money can buy. I have no problem in talking with you on the phone to help you train
your dog. If you are having problems and want to bring the dog by, I'm fine with that,
too. Bird hunting is my passion, and like I tell everyone, go out, go hunting, and
have fun.
